Getting married on the beach makes for a grand ceremony. It’s a beautiful backdrop, and it’ll save you a few bucks on the venue. When getting married on the beach, take into consideration the direction of the wind. Tradition says that the bride should stand on the left and the groom on the right, but if the wind is blowing the bride’s hair into her face and her vail is slapping the groom’s face, there will be no good pictures during the ceremony! The answer – switch sides! It really is okay! After all, you have already broken “tradition” by getting married on the beach – the place where YOU wanted to be married.

Tradition is grand, but awesome wedding photos are more important than which side your standing on. And there’s not much you can do about the wind. It’s what brought the Wright Brothers here, and is a constant part of life on the Outer Banks, so you learn to cope with it.
