The January 1, 2018 free service contest winner has been selected and notified, but I can’t give you too many details right now as they are planning on eloping this fall here on the Outer Banks and have not told their friends and family yet! I will share some of the bride’s email to me after being told the good news.

“Wow, what a wonderful way to start the New Year! Thank you for selecting [us] as the winners of your contest! We would love to have you officiate our ceremony in the Outer Banks. Honestly, it is an answered prayer for me. We had been contemplating a small ceremony locally or an elopement at the Outer Banks. I was leaning more towards the elopement … but since it is his first wedding, I understood that perhaps he wanted something traditional … I had already been down that road and wasn’t interested. When I found your website, something inside me kept coming back to it. Although we’ve never met, there was just something that told me this is what [we] need – intimate, personal, and simple with the ocean in our ears, two best friends by our side, and an officiant who can make it really special. When I saw we had won the contest, I was so happy and told ​[my fiance] immediately. He had this big smile on his face. I will never forget it. He said, ‘So looks like we’re getting married at the Outer Banks huh?’ I laughed and said yes we are. So us winning this contest is just confirmation that we should go with our hearts and elope. So thank you again.”

I can’t wait for this fall to be the one standing with this sweet couple as they say those two life changing words, “I DO!”

Twice a year, we draw a lucky couple to have their outer banks wedding officiated for free. The drawings are randomly conducted in January and in July and the only condition is that the couple shares pictures and videos with us so we can tell your story.
